Tyrannosaurus Rex Skeleton Sold for a Record $50 Million at Auction

A Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, discovered in South Dakota, was sold at a Sotheby’s auction in New York for a record $50.13 million. This fossil has become the most expensive ever sold at auction. The bones are approximately 67 million years old, and the dinosaur is preserved at 61% in terms of bone count.
