Slovenia Denies Former Minister Fajon EU Position Due to Internal Disputes

The Slovenian government did not support former Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon for the position of EU special representative for the Sahel region due to internal disputes. Despite being the main contender, EU ambassadors favored Danish diplomat Birgitte Nygård Marcussen. The Slovenian authorities deemed the selection process "compromised".
