Kyiv 165 Years Ago: Market on Khreshchatyk and Forests Around Monasteries
Published engravings from 1861 showcase Kyiv as a much smaller city at the time. Situated on the right bank of the Dnipro, it comprised historical districts including Upper Town, Podil, and Pechersk, with a population of around 50-60 thousand. Kyiv then served as a significant pilgrimage center, rich in churches and monasteries.
