Defenders' Defeat at the Battle of the Pyramids
On July 21, 1798, during Napoleon's Egyptian campaign, the Battle of the Pyramids took place, resulting in a defeat for the defenders. Napoleon Bonaparte aimed to capture Egypt to establish a French foothold in Asia. The expedition consisted of 32,300 troops and around 100 scientists and artists.
