Church Holiday on July 21: Feast of St. Simeon

On July 21, Orthodox Christians in Ukraine commemorate the Feast of St. Simeon, the Fool for Christ, and his companion John. The saints, who lived in the 6th century, renounced worldly life, dedicating themselves to prayer and worship in the desert near the Jordan River. This day is also associated with certain traditions that advise against swimming in bodies of water.
