Football as a Cause of Conflict: Lessons from History

This article analyzes the conflict between El Salvador and Honduras, which lasted only six days, and how football matches catalyzed the deterioration of relations between the countries. While football clashes served as the immediate cause, deep-seated socio-economic and political issues remain the foundation of the conflict.
