The Threat to Sivaš: War's Impact on the Ecosystem

Ecologist Valentyn Shcherbyna explained how the war and occupation have endangered the unique ecosystem of Lake Sivaš. He noted that the pink color of the water is due to the microalgae Dunaliella, which are adapted to high salinity. Recovery of the lake could take decades after de-occupation.
