Ukrainian Politician Avgustyn Voloshyn Dies in Moscow Prison
On July 19, 1945, Ukrainian priest and former president of Carpathian Ukraine, Avgustyn Voloshyn, died in Moscow's Butyrka prison. He endured eight interrogations by the Chekists following his forced arrest in Czechoslovakia. Voloshyn was known for his scholarly work and teaching at the Ukrainian Free University.
